Website

I have designed these mock up websites using a grid system and having the content drive the design. The website has a permanent column down the right hand side of the page, this contains a calendar and a constant review stream from a review twitter or email.

Website Ideas

We are also doing a website for the event that will hold information about the next event, a gallery, the location and a way to contact the organisers.

I had quite a few ideas of how it could be layered out and what feel it would give and then me and Hannah crossed ideas again and came up with something that we were both happy with.

Spot Varnish tickets

To add more of a luxury feel to the tickets, we deicide to print a spot varnish onto the logo of the tickets. This is only for the extended promotion range as there wasn't the budget to this for the project this month.

This was a great opportunity as again neither of us have ever spot varnished before. I organised a time to go into the print rooms and managed to get a screen prepared so that we could spot varnished the tickets.

However they didn't turn out as good as we had hoped as we had both wanted and expected a high quality spot varnish but we ended up with a more pearl metallic sheen on them. We realised that we needed to do more pulls on the screen printing to give it a heavier layer, or we could use a clear foil that would give it a really high sheen on it.

Final First Tuesday designs

After the appropriate changes were made we managed to print of the designs the next day and have them photographed by Friday. The new designs now have all the right information on and include the double sided ticket and bingo card.

These will be presented to Bridget and then sent out to the course administrators to then be distributed through the college and ready for the event on the 8th February.

Final Welcome pack

This are the final shots of the welcome pack that me and Hannah designed. This has been a great project working on with Hannah as i feel that we really have helped each other along and bounced off each others ideas.

This pack will be handed out to each person who attends the First Tuesday event and includes all the material needed for event. The pack includes
  • a pen
  • bingo card
  • ticket
  • name badge
  • business cards/holder
The pack is all held together with tabs so that there are no harmful chemicals used within the pack.

We used the logo to decorate the inside of the pack and so that it followed the curved edge of the pocket. I think this gives it a really professional look and brings the piece together.

Business Card Holder Final

These are the final photos of the holder that will be in the welcome pack. This will be a great little addition to the event and will make it eaier for people to network within the event.

The temporary business cards perforate off from the pack so that they can be handed out to people.

Business Card Holder

This was an idea that me and Hannah had for a while but were struggling with the design of it and how it would fit together.

The idea is to give each attendant of the event a welcome pack that includes a business card holder and some temporary business card templates for people who don't have their own designed yet. We had a idea to have the tabs as the logo so the cards would slot behind it, but unfortunately this ended up being a design flaw as the book ended up being larger than needed.

We decided to have the book hold together with a thick rubber band and this way there needed to be no glue or harmful substances used.

We tried different tabbing systems that we could used for holding the business cards in place one they have been collected.

Name Badge

Name badges are a great little bonus that we can put in the welcome pack that would be perfect for a networking event. These had to still include the identity of the event so i have just experimented with with a few ideas and then me and Hannah decided on the final badge.

I have never used the vinyl cutter before so this was a great way to understand how to used it. It was very simple and simply needed a separate layer for the cut out shape.

First Tuesday extension

Both me and Hannah have decided that we would love to extend this project as we had loads of ideas when discussing the design. We have come up with plenty of ways in which we could extend it and picked a few that we feel are really appropriate and could possibly be used if the event is a success.

Range:
  • Website
  • Welcome pack
  • Pen
  • Business Card holder/dispenser
  • Name badge

BWA - Environmental Agencie

This project is for the Environmental Agency Waste Campaign and aims to stop fly-tipping on private land. BWA produced a range of media to ensure the success of the campaign including leaflets, car air fresheners, partner invites and local press adds.

BWA have approached this project with a simple tone and has managed to keep a serious tone as well as making it visually appealing. The simple logo that has been designed works really well on the different media and

Bridget and Steve meeting

We spoke to Bridget yesterday and she mentioned that there was a slight problem with the venue and the prices so there was a change that the information will have to be changed. So today we have been waiting to hear from Bridget to see what the situation is.

We got called into Steve's office with Bridget to check over the design and discuss changed that needed to be made. The main issue was the price as the venue could no longer offer the price of drinks that they first said and so in order to keep the venue the price has had to go up an extra £1. Both me and Hannah thought this was still an acceptable price and so Steve gave the go ahead. Steve was impressed with the design and was happy with everything on that front, which was great and it was seen as a luxury ticket which is exactly what we had intended.

After the meeting Bridget went through the design and picked up on a few things that needed changing and spelling errors before re printing.

  • Change price from £2 to £3
  • Edit body copy on Bingo card
  • Change date to 8th February
  • Change perforated token to 2 simple stamps
  • Place ticket and bingo card back to back
  • Change soft drinks to unlimited
  • Change '2 bottles' to '2 pints'
  • Check spelling mistakes on the bingo card

Strawbear Festival 2011

I went to the 2011 Strawbear Festival down in Whittlesea a few weeks ago, which is the festival that i am going to design all the promotion for. It is a very big event for the locals and has gradually over the years become a Morris Dancing festivals where teams get invited to dance over the weekend.

These are some of the best photos from the weekend which i hope to use within the design of the festival. The  aspects i want to focus on is the colours and the elaborate costumes worn by the teams. The event is attended by hundreds of people around the country and is a great expression of our British heritage and tradition.
