Technically Speaking, how does it work?

I ordered some samples from various different pop up mailer companies hoping to get some that i could dissect apaprt and discover the secretes of how they work.

This first one was called a extender, where you pull one side and the other side will pull out automatically as well, this is one of the main designs that i have had in my head that i want to work with. Its basically a tabbing system and a pully. basically the two sides are attached to a pully system and so when one side pulls out it pulls round the pully that also pushes out the other side. CLEVER.

The second one i received is a revealer and this is where you have a standard mailer that can be pulled at each end to reveal something in the middle, a bit like the first one but the design opens up in the middle rather than extending to the side.

This is sooo simple, its just basically 2 tabs that catch each other as you pull them out. Will defiantly be trying this one! its a great one to try

Ok this one has to be my faviourite, its not quite the one i saw from Whitney Woods but its the same concept. Basically its a flat box that when you pull out the insert it pops up into a 3D box cube shape. Its great, this is the one that got my attention and that had most interactivity for the viewer.

It basically works with an elastic band, so when its folds flat the elastic band is stretched and high resistance so that when it pops out the elastic band contracts it pops up into a cube. just like that.
